Safety & Security Glass
FIRE-RATED / FIREPROOF GLASS
Fire-rated glass is engineered to maintain integrity — and in some configurations, insulation — during a specified fire-rating period (typically 20 to 120+ minutes), used to meet fire-separation and life-safety code requirements in walls, doors, and partitions.
Key Features
Available in fire-protective (blocks flame and smoke) and fire-resistive (also blocks radiant/conductive heat) configurations, fire ratings from 20 to 120+ minutes depending on product type, and can be combined with wired, ceramic, or laminated intumescent interlayer construction.
Where This Glass Is Used
Fire-rated partitions, stairwell enclosures, corridor walls, and doors in healthcare, hospitality, and commercial buildings.
Manufacturing Process
- Fire-resistive interlayer construction — Multiple glass plies are laminated with an intumescent interlayer that expands and turns opaque under heat, blocking radiant heat transfer.
- Ceramic glass formulation — Some fire-rated products use a specialty ceramic glass composition that withstands extreme thermal shock without an interlayer.
- Rating verification — Assemblies are tested and rated per fire-testing standards (e.g., UL 9/10, EN 357) for the specific duration claimed.
- Framing compatibility — Manufactured to fit tested, listed framing systems required to maintain the assembly's fire rating.
Applications & Use Cases
- Stairwell & Corridor Enclosures — Maintains fire separation while preserving visibility and egress lighting.
- Healthcare Facility Partitions — Fire-rated glazing in walls separating patient areas per life-safety code.
- Fire-Rated Doors & Sidelights — Vision panels in fire doors required to maintain the door assembly's overall rating.
- Commercial & Hospitality Fire Separation — Fire-rated glazing at required separation points in multi-tenant buildings.

Technical Service
We support your project from drawing review to delivery, not just order fulfillment.
- Drawing & Spec Review — Shop drawings and project specs are reviewed before production to confirm sizes, tolerances, and edge/hole details match your requirements.
- Testing & Documentation — Mill test certificates, thickness/strength test reports, and compliance documentation provided for project submittals.
- Technical Consultation — Our team advises on coating, thickness, and configuration selection to meet your project's structural and energy code requirements.
Customization
- Custom Cut Sizes & Shapes — Curved, notched, cut-corner, and irregular shapes fabricated to your CAD drawings, not limited to standard rectangles.
- Edgework & Drilling — Polished, beveled, or seamed edges, plus precision hole drilling and cutouts for hardware and fittings.
- Coating & Printing Options — Combine with Low-E coating, tinting, or ceramic silkscreen/digital printing on the same order.
Packaging & Shipping
- Export-Grade Crating — Reinforced wooden A-frame or flat crates with edge protection, built for ocean freight handling.
- Container Loading — Load plans optimize container utilization while maintaining safe glass spacing to prevent transit damage.
- Shipping Documentation — Packing lists, certificates of origin, and mill certificates prepared in advance for smooth customs clearance.
- Lead Time — 7days in 12'' sample; 15days in mock up sample; 35days in project order.
